We offer our deepest sympathy to Dr. John Gillighan, Janet, Andrew, Chris and John on the relatively sudden death of Kathleen, John’s mother. After a few years virtually house-bound, and following her few weeks in hospital, it still came as a shock on Friday to hear that she had gone to the Lord. A former teacher in Manchester, Kathleen was an outstanding person who loved her faith and her family, totally committed to the Church, with a powerful sense of humour and a warmth that made any visit to her home more than just a quick visit! May she now rest after her suffering in the peace of the Lord whom she loved.

Kathleen’s will possibly be on Thursday.

This Sunday afternoon the young people going to Lourdes are venturing a sponsored run or walk around Hollingworth Lake. Please support us. The sponsor forms are at the back of the church.
Sincere thanks again to all who came to the Civic to support the Lourdes Ceili. Approximately £450 has been raised for the trip.
On behalf of Kevin and myself, many thanks for your prayers for his brother, Derek, who was seriously ill last week with viral menigitis. Now on the road to recovery thanks to the good nature of many people.
PETITIONS
If you would like to send petitions to Lourdes you probably know the procedure: write the intention and place it in a sealed envelope marked ‘Lourdes Petition’.

If you would also like to have candles lit at the Grotto the group will see to it. Again mark your envelope ‘Lourdes Candles’.

Furthermore, if you would like to discuss any particular intention with me that you are happy the group knowing about, please have a word with me.
Congratulations to our latest newly-ordained priest, Fr. Andrew Stringfellow, who was ordained this afternoon at Ss. Aidan and Oswald, Royton. As the diocese gets a good priest, we support him with our prayers that he will have many years of happiness in the priesthood.
The Apparitions of Our Lady to St. Bernadette
If you would like a copy of these fascinating accounts of the Apparitions, please put your name on the list at the back of the church.
